Mumford and sons ~ Sound Academy/Toronto

Shot Mumford and sons last night at the Sound Academy in Toronto for Corbis. Loved this hot new British folk rock band from the UK who played for a packed house of college kids. I could barely make my way through to the media pit without stepping on toe-stomping dancing feet. Notice the fresh faces in one of my shots below. Shooting at the Sound Academy is always a challenge with the shitty purple/red low lights and the back flood wash of white lights making you feel like you're approaching a close encounter of the third kind. Their music reminds me of "Great Big Sea", the kinda music that makes you feel like dancing with a pint of beer in your hand at an old English pub.

Since they formed in December 2007, the members of Mumford & Sons have shared a common purpose: to make music that matters, without taking themselves too seriously. Four young men from West London in their early twenties, they have fire in their bellies, romance in their hearts, and rapture in their masterful, melancholy voices. They are good friends - Marcus Mumford, Country Winston, Ben Lovett, and Ted Dwane - who bring their music to us with the passion and pride of an old-fashioned, much-cherished, family business. They create a gutsy, old-time sound that marries the magic of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young with the might of Kings Of Leon.

Florence + The Machine Concert

Shot another great band for corbisimages.com last Wednesday night at the Sound Academy in Toronto. With her fiery red-hot hair and her gothic flower child dance moves matching her melodic voice, I had a hard time concentrating on my camera while I was in the front media press pit shooting. What a graceful barefoot dancer with perfectly manicured feet...I think I have a new favorite female vocalist crush going on...http://florenceandthemachine.net/
